Scout Kickoffs Girl Scout Kickoff Tuesday, August 3 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Come see what your local Girl Scout council has to offer this school year! Take home a craft from SWAPS, make new friends and enjoy an evening at Sci-Port! Featuring the IMAX film Sea Monsters (7:50 p.m.; $6 per person).
Boy Scout Kickoff Thursday, August 5 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Norwela Council is ready to kickoff another year of scouting, and you're invited! Find out about all your favorite camps and scouting activities happening this school year.
Scout Days Scout Days are themed days designed for both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to complete requirements toward earning badges, academic & activity pins, belt loops or Try-Its. Cost: Free with admission to the Center; members of Sci-Port are free. Pre-registration is not required.

- Health - Saturday, January 15
- Engineering (featuring guest engineers) - Sunday, February 20 & Monday, February 21
- Weather - Saturday, March 19
- Environmental - Saturday, April 16
- Science - Saturday, May 14
Scout Overnight Camp-Ins Cost: $45 per camper, 1 chaperone free for every 4 campers when reserving as a pack/troop (additional chaperones - $15 each). Space is limited so reserve early by calling (318) 424-8660. Boy Scout Camp-In: Start Your Engines Friday, December 3 - Saturday, December 4 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. (open to all levels of Boy Scouts)
Girl Scout Camp-In: Uncovering the Evidence Friday, May 27 - Saturday, May 28 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. (open to all levels of Girl Scouts)
Scout Special Events Science in the Fast Lane (Pinewood Derby Science Demonstrations & Track Practice) Saturdays, December 11 & 18, January 1 Demonstrations at 11 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. Track Open for Practice: 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. & 3 - 5 p.m. Open to Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, youth groups & school clubs Cost: Free with admission to the Center; Members of Sci-Port are free. Pre-registration is not required.
Derby Day Track Rentals Saturdays & Sundays in January Rentals available for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, youth groups or school clubs Pre-booking required at least 2 weeks in advance. Cost: $35 per slot* (maximum of 24 racers per slot) (Admission to the Center is not included.) *Time Slots are 1 hr, 45 min.
Boy Scout Pinewood Derby Finals Saturday, February 5 Doors open at 8:30 a.m., races begin at 9 a.m. Pre-registration via the Norwela Boy Scout office is required by Thursday, February 3, 2011. Finals practice will be made available on Sunday, January 30 from 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. Finals inspection will take place on Friday, February 4 from 4:30 until 7 p.m. There will be no race day registration or inspection. Want to stay after the race? Members get in free; Non-Members - $9 per person for Center admission only.
Girl Scout Thinking Day: Australia Saturday, February 12 Pre-registration is encouraged. All levels of Girl Scouts are welcome. Scouts will have the opportunity to work on People Around the World Try-It and World Neighbors Badge.
Badge in a Box (badges, academic & activity pins, belt loops & try-its) Can't make it to Scout Days to work on badges, pins, belt loops or try-its? Bring Sci-Port style badge work to you! Each box includes all information, directions and supplies for a group of 20 scouts to complete requirements. Boxes are available for weekly rental, and supplementary scout materials can be added for an additional per scout fee. Box rental cost: $35 per week due at the time of booking; with a $100 refundable deposit. Pre-booking is required at least 2 weeks in advance. Box pick-up/drop-off on Saturdays & Sundays.
